At
Time Magazine there's always time for the "You Know What"* Agenda. In this week's edition an
article by Jeffrey Kluger (who
looks pretty liberal, if you ask me) claims that if you have more brothers you are more likely to be a "You Know What." And so since you don't have any control over how many brothers you have, you don't have any control over whether you're a "You Know What."
This just doesn't make sense. Everyone knows that if all your brothers are liberals you're more likely to be a liberal, but that doesn't mean you don't choose to be liberal. And if all your brothers eat cheetos than you are more likely to eat cheetos, but that doesn't mean it wasn't your own decision to eat cheetos. Cheeto eating is not genetic!
Just like all liberal myths,
Time quotes a supposedly "scientific" study to prove that your brothers make you a "You Know What," but this study is so flawed that even I can see "straight" through it!
Since the 1990s, many social psychologists have concluded that ["You Know Whats"] represent about 3% of all males—although that's a much debated figure. Others put it as low as 1% or as high as 10%. Those who subscribe to the 3% figure believe they have [established] an interesting wrinkle: among boys with one older brother, the figure goes up to about 4%; two older brothers tick it up to 5%; and with three or more, it tops out at about 6%.
Well, duh. The more brothers you have, the more likelihood that one of them will be a "You Know What" or left-handed, or blue-eyed. It's the same kind of junk science that supports global warming because even if it is warmer now, the more years you have the more likely it is that one of them will be warm.
*I have referred to these people as "You Know Whats" because Townhall's blogging software wouldn't let me use the h-word or the g-word. I think this may be because some liberal programmer doesn't want people to write about "you know what" marriage.
